July 28, 2022 (New York, NY) – William F. Guilford, Jr. launches Guilford Law Group, PLLC, focused on family law and complex civil litigation. Mr. Guilford, a highly-acclaimed attorney, has spent over 15 years in private practice where he has excelled in litigating complex, high stakes civil and matrimonial actions. Mr. Guilford has represented clients in counties throughout the metropolitan New York City area, including New York, Kings, Queens, Bronx, Richmond, Rockland, and Westchester Counties. Mr. Guilford has successfully argued and won numerous motions and trials in a variety of civil, matrimonial, and family law cases. Mr. Guilford has represented various corporate entities, including prominent internet and television providers, entertainment venues, sports, and recreational centers, and national insurance carriers. Mr. Guilford has also represented high net worth clients in divorce and separation cases involving multi-million dollar assets. Mr. Guilford is experienced in handling prenuptial and postnuptial agreements and post-divorce agreement disputes involving the distribution of million-dollar assets. Additionally, Mr. Guilford has represented a multitude of clients in order of protection cases and custody and visitation disputes involving matters both domestic and international. Before private practice, Mr. Guilford interned and wrote legal decisions for The Honorable Sidney H. Stein of the United States District Court, Southern District of New York. Mr.Guilford is highly respected by his peers and, as a result, was chosen to serve on a judicial screening committee to interview and screen prospective judges.
Mr. Guilford is a graduate of Tuskegee University and New York University School of Law. While at NYU Law, Mr. Guilford was a Dean’s scholarship recipient and an active member of local and national black law students’ associations. As a law student Mr. Guilford also served as a mentor to local NYC youth. As an undergraduate student at Tuskegee University, Mr. Guilford was voted “Mr. Tuskegee” by the student body in recognition of his academic achievements and his commitment to campus service organizations. Mr. Guilford maintains a commitment to service today, serving on the Board of Directors of a community outreach program in New York City and volunteering at youth basketball camps near his home in New Jersey and his hometown in Alabama.
Mr. Guilford has been rated by Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers as a top-rated attorney in Metropolitan New York City in 2022. Mr. Guilford has also been recognized as a Top 100 lawyer in New York State by the National Black Lawyers for the past three years in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
