Guilford Law Group, PLLC is pleased to announce that Founder and Managing Attorney, William F. Guilford, Jr. has been elected a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation (ABF). Established in 1955, The Fellows of the American Bar Foundation is a global honor society comprised of judges, law faculty, attorneys, and legal scholars and selection is limited to one percent of lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction. Members are nominated by their peers and elected by the ABF Board.
Fellows of this global honorary society of lawyers, judges, law faculty and legal scholars are chosen as a result of their demonstrated leadership and outstanding dedication to the highest principles of the legal profession and service to society. The ABF is a 70-year old nonprofit, independent research institute which addresses critical questions at the intersection of law and society. ABF Fellows hail from 40 countries and hold a variety of influential roles.
A 2002 graduate of Tuskegee University, Mr. Guilford received his J.D. from New York University School of Law in 2005, where he was a Dean's Scholar. Mr. Guilford's work focuses on family law and complex civil litigation. Over the course of his legal career, Mr. Guilford has represented politicians, corporate executives, business owners, entertainers, investment bankers, executive chefs, medical professionals, fellow lawyers and many others in matrimonial and civil litigation matters. Mr. Guilford was recognized as a top family law attorney in New York by Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers in both 2022 and 2023 and a Top 100 Lawyer by the National Black Lawyers from 2019 through 2023. In addition to his legal work, Mr. Guilford has a long history of service to the community. In college, Mr. Guilford was elected Mr. Tuskegee University by his peers where he used his position to implement service initiatives in coordination with the local chapter of the 100 Black Men of America, Inc. as well as volunteering his time to help tutor high school students improve their standardized test scores. Mr. Guilford maintains a commitment to service today, recently serving on the Board of Directors of a community outreach program in New York City and organizing and volunteering at youth basketball camps near his home in New Jersey and his hometown in Alabama. Every year, from November through April, he coaches a little league basketball team.
Mr. Guilford is elated by this recognition and looks forward to continuing his work within the legal profession and community.
